A new supercomputer deployed by the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS) will allow the country's national weather service to provide more-detailed and accurate weather forecasts. The Cray CS-Storm cluster now used by MeteoSwiss is 40 times more powerful than its existing high-performance computing system and allows the weather service to build faster, more-detailed weather models. Cray CS-Storm can also produce a larger number of daily forecasts—up to eight per day.

For our October "Community Choice" Project of the Month, the community elected fre:ac, a free audio converter and CD ripper with support for various popular formats and encoders. It currently converts between MP3, MP4/M4A, WMA, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, AAC, WAV, and Bonk formats. With fre:ac you can easily rip your audio CDs to MP3 or WMA files for use with your hardware player. You can also convert files that do not play with other audio software, and even convert whole music libraries while retaining the folder and filename structure. The integrated CD ripper supports the CDDB/freedb online CD database, and will automatically query song information and write it to ID3v2 or other title information tags

There is significant variation in total cyber-crime costs among participating companies. The US sample reports the highest total average cost at $15 million and the Russian sample reports the lowest total average cost at $2.4 million.

It is also interesting to note that Germany, Japan, Australia and Russia experienced a slight decrease in the cost of cyber-crime over the past year. The percentage net change between FY 2015 and FY 2014 is 1.9 percent.
